Yesterday, one of New Hampshire’s most epic mountains celebrated its 65th birthday. It’s fine, you can boo me for that pun. Wildcat Mountain in Pinkham Notch opened on January 25th, 1958. For many years, the two-person gondola was the icon of the ski resort. It was eventually replaced by a high-speed quad, but Wildcat has continued to be known for its natural terrain and stunning views of Tuckerman Ravine and Mt. Washington.

If you’re planning to ski on Saturday, Wildcat will be hosting a birthday pawty. There will be cupcakes, party favors, party hats, balloons, giveaways, and more. There will be a truck where you can donate non-perishable food items, which can help you win a swag bag. At the pub, there will be $6.50 specials, with PBR Promo and Now is Now performing during the day.

I got some vintage photos from Abigail Allen, who is the Manager of Resort Communications for New Hampshire’s Vail properties. The photos are a blast from the past.

In other news, Wildcat just got 14″ of new snow, so it’s going to be a nice weekend to visit.
