Remember when so much snow piled up on the Minnesota Vikings’ Metrodome stadium that the roof collapsed?

It’s been a little over 12 years since it happened, but the video and story are still incredible.

Check out the original clip below:

A major winter storm slammed Minneapolis on the night of December 10th. The storm brought 17 inches of snow and strong winds.

The stadium had a fiberglass fabric roof that was supported by internal air pressure. Crews were attempting to remove snow from the roof, but were called off due to the hazardous conditions.

The roof collapsed at 5:00am the next morning.

Minneapolis eventually replaced the Metrodome with US Bank Stadium to the tune of $1.061 billion in 2016.

Quite the costly failure, huh?
