The crowds showed up in droves to ski Vail Resorts property Stevens Pass this past weekend. The mountain has seen 88 inches already this season with 16 inches in the last 7 days.
The ski area announced to their followers on Saturday, December 10th that all of their lots were filled, but that wasn’t stopping people from showing up.
Dozens of cars were spotted by the Washington State Department of Transportation illegally parking along US 2 Stevens Pass to access the ski area.
Here’s the Tweet:
Congestion at the summit of US 2 Stevens Pass: illegally parked vehicles are blocking lanes and that’s a problem. WSP is on site but in the meantime this is a huge safety issue and unnecessary burden to our crews and responders. Do not park in the highway. pic.twitter.com/ajvCJAUn2C

The ski area reminded their guests that parking along US 2 is illegal.
They posted a Tweet of their own reminding guests that it’s best to arrive early, or after 1pm to secure a parking spot.
It is illegal to park on HWY 2. Please arrive early or after 1 pm for the best availability in our parking lots.

The popular ski area has implemented daily lift ticket limits to preserve the guest experience this season.
The ticket limits don’t effect Epic Pass holders, and it’s starting to seem like Vail sold too many passes for limiting daily lift ticket to really matter.
If thousands upon thousands of skiers with full-fledged Epic Passes are showing up every weekend, will this be a regular occurrence for the troubled ski area?
