Carlyle Mountain Lodge is located way up in the mountains of British Columbia. It sits at 7,200 feet, can accommodate up to 12 guests, AND features an in-house toilet! At the end of the day, it acts as an incredible outing for backcountry skiers and snowboarders alike, receiving over 700 inches of snow on average throughout the year.

But Carlyle Mountain Lodge’s best feature might be its owner, Brian Cross. Initially, as winter custodian at Kokanee Glacier, Cross (or Bomber, as he’s typically called) found his way into backcountry skiing while staying in the mountains. He’s taken part in wildland firefighting, mineral prospecting, sheep farming and much more, but Carlyle Mountain Lodge is where he tends to feel most at home.

I won’t drone on about this guy anymore. Instead, I’ll let him tells his own story through this lovely short video put together by Aidan Croskrey.
