Mount Snow in West Dover, Vermont is undergoing one of its biggest offseason projects ever, as they are adding two new high-speed chairlifts to their lift network. A new detachable six-pack will replace the Tumbleweed and Sundance triple chairlifts. This will help reduce congestion faced by the other high-speed lifts around the base area, especially regarding the Bluebird Express. Over at Sunbrook, they are replacing the old fixed-grip quad with a four-person detachable chairlift. The old fixed-grip Sunbrook lift took over ten minutes to reach the top terminal, so this new lift is also a welcome addition.

In this construction update from last week, Kevin Harrington, the Director of Operations at Mount Snow, detailed the latest news on the construction projects. Twenty-seven lift towers were recently put into place for the two projects, making them close to completion. Sixteen of those towers were put on the Sundance Express, as the lift is now 95% complete. With the Sunbrook lift, Doppelmayr will soon shift its focus towards completing the top and bottom terminals. These are looking like huge improvements for Mount Snow, and they will help alleviate the crowds that have hampered the Vermont ski resort in prior seasons.
