Happy to announce the “Junk Yard Bike Park” will be debuting this Memorial Day Weekend at the Rocky Mountain Outdoor Center (RMOC)located south of Buena Vista near the entrance to Browns Canyon National Monument. The half-acre bike park will be free to riders who are encouraged to send it over beater cars and drop-in from a decommissioned school bus.

The Colorado Springs Gazette reports hat RMOC’s owner, Brandon Slate, and business partner, Ryan Coulter, inherited with the riverside property in 2016. It was formally used as a landfill and they right away saw potential in the remnants:

“It didn’t take long for Slate and Coulter to start riding on top of the junk and imagining a bike park that would not only fill a local need but would also draw people to RMOC to take advantage of the outpost’s other features, such as its microbrewery, food truck and riverside seating.”

Rocky Mountain Outdoor Center is mostly known as a rafting outfitter but the owners are hoping to become a local biking destination with the newly added park.  Junk Yard Bike Park includes four lines for bikers of various skill levels, as well as a pump track and access to more singletrack with mellow downhill sections and more technical rock drops.
