Pulse raising scene out of Alaska where skier Emily Childs triggered an avalanche but thankfully made it to a safe zone by executing a “quick left.” Emily was in the backcountry filming with Matchstick Productions when the slide occurred. Here’s how Mark Abma described the scene:

“Emily Childs making a quick left to put herself into the safe zone while the snow broke under her feet. It’s wild and slightly terrifying watching your fellow comrade drop into a bigger line and even crazier when the snow pops. We always try to select terrain that’s appropriate to the current and ever changing conditions. Despite one’s confidence in the snowpack, it’s so important to have a Plan B and C. It was quite a relief seeing a Plan B implemented with precision. I’m always humbled and in awe watching the snow gain momentum and power as it moves downslope.” –Mark Abma
