Arapahoe Basin is one of the few resorts in the United States that plans to have daily skiing and riding throughout the month of May, and into the first week of June.

The snowpack is still great, the vibes are high, and endless slushy spring laps in the sun are still left to be had.

A-Basin isn’t just stopping there. The ski area has some awesome events planned for the remainder of the season to keep the mountain fresh and fun.

You literally don’t have an excuse for not getting at least two or three days up at A Basin before the end of the season. After all, what’s more important in life than skiing and snowboarding? 😉

 May 21 – Slush N’ Spokes

This is easily the coolest event that A-Basin has planned for the rest of the season, and I can’t wait to see the photos and videos that come from it.

A-Basin is essentially hosting a downhill mass start bike race on snow High Noon (a blue ski trail). Guests are asked to bring whatever bike they want (as long as it isn’t electrically powered and doesn’t have ice spikes on the tires).

What other US ski resort would have the confidence to host such an awesome event? None. That’s what makes A-Basin so damn special.

“Imagine staring down High Noon (a blue ski run) with 59 of your newest friends, about to Le-Mans start a bicycle race. You pick up your ride, throw a leg over, and you’re off – elbow to elbow in the slush trying to make the first sweeping right hander. You hesitantly let off the brakes and start to gain speed. You’re cruising, feeling good, but still need to make up more time so you let off even more. You’re now maxed out, having the time of your life, fully pinned to the bottom. You see a natural feature and think to yourself – boost the roller and smile for the camera. This is Slush N’ Spokes – the long-awaited return of bikes on snow at A-Basin. “

May 28- Swimwear Day

Have you always wanted to wear a bathing suit while skiing but you were worried that everybody would judge you? Well my friend, this is your time to shine. Everybody on the whole damn mountain is going to be rocking swimwear, and you know it’s going to be a good time.

I will be personally awarding 100 G.N.A.R. points to all men who wear speedos. It seems like something Shane McConkey would approve of, ya know?

Celebrate spring by joining us to ski or ride in your favorite pool-side attire and beachwear! We cannot guarantee the availability of a pond skim. Our “Lake Reveal” is a natural body of water on the upper mountain and will come out when it comes out. Stay tuned for complete event details!”

May 29- Festival of the Brewpubs

Live music, a selection of incredible breweries, unlimited beer, awesome spring skiing… need I say more?

Join us for Festival of the Brewpubs to sample some of the best beers Summit County has to offer! Come out for some super-scenic beer sampling! We will have 20 breweries here with tents in the base area, sampling their beer. Your $50 ticket to the event gets you unlimited beer!”

June 4-5- Pride Weekend/Closing Weekend

June 4th and 5th are the last hoorah for the winter season at Arapahoe Basin, and you know they’re gonna end it with a bang. A-Basin will have food and beverage specials, and LGBTQ+ celebrations on Saturday, June 4th.

June 5th will be your last opportunity to get those final lift-serviced runs, have fun with friends, and celebrate inclusivity at the best ski area in Colorado. Again, the event kind of sells itself, right?

“Join us for A-Basin’s Pride Weekend with on-mountain fun, food and beverage specials, and LGBTQ+ celebrations all weekend. The LGBTQ+ community, friends, family, and allies are all invited. Complete details coming soon!”

The party doesn’t stop at A-Basin once the lifts stop spinning for skiing and riding. The Legend has hiking, mountain biking, disc golf, and the East Wall via ferrata to keep you entertained throughout the summer!
