VIDEO: Rebel Wilson Hits Park City Slopes For Charity Event Benefiting Operation Smile

Australian actress Rebel Wilson hit the slopes in Park City over the weekend for Operation Smile’s 10th Annual Park City Ski Challenge. Operation Smile is an international medical nonprofit providing free, safe surgery to individuals born with cleft lip and cleft palate around the world.

The event was a celebration of the hundreds of thousands of surgeries performed to date that have transformed the lives of children born with cleft lip and cleft palate around the world. Races were held combining one celebrity skier and four amateur skiers/Operation Smile donors into teams. The team with the best overall finish time was recognized at an award luncheon directly following the race. Fourteen-year-old Philipine was ill and needed medical attention. She walked 23 miles alongside her father to the closest hospital. During that walk, they saw a poster announcing Operation Smile in Madagascar‘s surgical program in two weeks.

Michel and his wife, Ethorine, have dreamt of being able to repair Philipine’s cleft lip but could not afford it. Philipine was tired of being bullied and crying because of her cleft condition. The family felt their prayers were answered by Operation Smile. Ethorine and Philipine walked more than 13 hours to reach the nearest town and continued their journey on a four-hour bus to Tamatave.

The journey was worth it when Philipine was cleared for surgery and received her new smile. Philipine is no longer bullied and has a happy life at school with her new friends. DONATE HERE.
