If you’re looking to start an Airbnb operation, I think I found the perfect spot. The Edelweiss Village is a historic set of buildings in Golden, British Columbia, and provides direct views of Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. The small Swiss-inspired village was built between 1910 and 1912 by the “Canadian Pacific Railway to house the Swiss Guides and their families who were employed in Golden by the CPR to tour wealthy tourists into the mountain areas such as Rogers Pass, Banff, and Lake Louise.”
The property features over fifty acres of land, and the property is home to seven buildings. Six were the original homes built in 1910-12, and the main residence was built in 1978. The newest house “is a spacious, updated 2 level home with multiple decks and large windows overlooking a beautifully kept lawn and landscaping.“ All the buildings “have updated plumbing, heating and electrical components electrical with 100 to 125 Amp services, as well as updated oil furnaces from the early 2000s.” Some renovations will need to be done to bring these buildings back to their former glory, but the potential is clearly there. The property has been on the market for over a year, which means whoever makes an offer would have some good leverage to negotiate a lower price.
