It’s barely rained all summer in Utah, but a recent storm has dumped multiple inches of water in and around Park City forcing Deer Valley to close operations today, August 19th, 2021.

I’m sure the locals aren’t complaining as the Parleys Canyon fire is still burning just miles from downtown Park City and Deer Valley Resort. The recent rain will help the state as it’s plagued by an excessive drought, but Utah is going to need a lot more moisture before they’re in the clear.

I’m sure the mountain bikers will rejoice that their trails will be a little tackier and less dusty thanks to the recent rainfall. I was talking to some riders a couple weeks ago when I was in Park City, and they were telling me that had never seen the trails so dry.

I’m certainly hoping that more rain (and eventually snow) is on the way for Utah, or else things are going to get bad in the coming years.
