Construction is well underway on a new gondola at Cape Smokey in Nova Scotia, and will likely be opening in July. It will be the first gondola in the Atlantic region of Canada. Cape Smokey is a small ski resort with only four runs and two lifts, but this addition is aimed at making the mountain a year-round destination.
This is one of the many projects that Cape Smokey is working on. In 2022, they will be opening North America’s first tree walk. This structure will go above the treeline and give immaculate views of the surrounding Atlantic Ocean and the Cape Breton Highlands National Park. Also coming next year is a brewery that will be the first of its kind on the Cabot Trail. The Cabot Trail, which Cape Smokey is located on, is regarded as one of the most memorable drives in all of Nova Scotia. Ultimately, these will all be noteworthy additions that will help put Cape Smokey on the map.
