The dudes behind this epic jump at Val d’Isère originally planned to do it when the slopes were packed and turn a few French heads on the way down but unfortunately when it came time to send it, the resort was closed due to COVID . The jump is dedicated to a fellow wingsuiter Vince Reffet who was tragically killed in a training accident in Dubai in November. What a way to honor a friend.

“Always looking for unique places to spread their wings, the @Soul Flyers team had chosen the legendary Face de Bellevarde which plunges into Val d’Isère for their next challenge. This January 2021, it is in tribute to his teammate Vince Reffet, who passed away in the fall, that Fred Fugen flew a wingsuit over the most demanding black slope on the alpine ski circuit.

The first scouts were made at the end of July 2020 by the Soul Flyers team, who planned to surprise skiers by descending the formidable Face de Bellevarde in their own way. The imposing rock which dominates Val d’Isère from its 2830 m altitude is the ideal setting for this unique spectacle. A suspended moment, a communion with the mountain overflowing with adrenaline, this is the beauty of this extreme sport which humbly salutes the most remarkable sites in the world.

This sporting challenge takes place in a particular context, at a time when the ski lifts are at a standstill and the Val d’Isère resort is deprived of its skiers. A flight full of hope.”
