“I hope seeing all the progress the team is making on the mountain, from the towers being lifted into place, to the 100-ton crane on top of the Rangeley this week to complete the return terminal, to the newly refurbished snowmaking pumps, that any lingering doubt about our commitment to meeting our December 15th opening date is now off the table. With all the work we’re doing on our HVAC system, dramatically expanding seating capacity and on our bathrooms, we are planning to open as one of the safest ski areas in the east.”
Gnarly season to reopen a ski resort but Saddleback Mountain in Western Maine is doing just that and has announced they plan to start spinning lifts on December 15th, 2020.  There are a million and one details that a resort has to sort out to go operational after a five-year layoff but during the COVID-19 era there’s an added layer protecting guests from exposure. To address concerns, Saddleback Mountain is installing a badass HVAC system “to create the safest ski lodge experience in the East.” Strange times for indoor air quality to be a selling point for a ski experience but we appreciate it and good on them for investing:
