“Spring has sprung in the Green Mountains, meaning only one thing, it’s Pond Skim time! This year’s Pond Skim takes on a different format, as we practice safe social habits, and look to support those who need an extra hand.”
Interesting take on the time honored tradition of spring pond-skimming competitions during these unprecedented times of global pandemic. Stratton Mountain in Vermont is hosting a virtual pond skim where participants film their submissions and then tag them @strattonresort and #StrattonPondSkim. Top three submission get some sweet gear from SMITH and all proceeds go towards a local COVID-19 Relief Fund:

WHY A VIRTUAL POND SKIM:
The pond skim is one of the favorite events of the season. Gathering on Suntanner and hooting and hollering as your friends, kids, coworkers, or your favorite costumed riders drop into the sink or skim gauntlet of the ice-cold pool is something we all enjoy.
Together with the Stratton Foundation, this year’s virtual pond skim is bringing our mountain family together through assistance from the COVID-19 Relief Fund. The ask is simple: an optional donation matched by Stratton up to $5,000 will help to pay for food distribution within the community. All donations will receive a tax receipt from Go Fund Me. To date, over 7,000+ meals have been donated to the local community by Stratton Resort through the Feed The Community initiative.
SCHEDULE:
Use the week to get creative and film or photograph your virtual Pond Skim submissions. Submissions and donations will close May 16th at midnight. Help us spread the word by challenging your friends, and family. For the community’s viewing pleasure, be sure to tag @strattonresort and #StrattonPondSkim so we can find your submissions!
SUBMISSIONS:
Pond skimmers have open guidelines for how they want to participate. An example of a submission may consist of gearing up in spring ski or snowboard attire, a costume, etc, and having a bucket of water dumped on the rider. With no true guidelines, the sky is the limit, and creativity is king. Corresponding donations can be completed through Feed The Community Go Fund Me.
The first 125 donations through the Go Fund Me will be sent a 2020 Pond Skim T-shirt. Be sure to tag @strattonresort and use the hashtag #StrattonPondSkim on your social media so we can see them all!
