Never really gave a second thought as to how ski race times are measured until watching this video by Alpenhunde Timing about their new app-based timing kits. It’s actually a simpler process to set up and use than I expected. Immediately imagined buying one for personal use and finding out exactly how fast all my buddies are to the hundredth of a second, but was stopped in my tracks after seeing the price tag ($3,161 to $5,069). Still cool to what’s available and how it works. Learn something new every day.

App-based timekeeping in ski racing –
innovative, comfortable, professional!

The Alpenhunde Timing ® time measurement system is quick and easy to install. It is very intuitive to use and optimized for the special requirements of ski racing.
The newly developed radio technology enables a unique long-distance network that works reliably even over long distances. Each time measurement station (start, intermediate, target and pocket device) also has a WLAN hotspot , into which athletes and coaches can log in easily – either via the Alpenhunde smartphone app or via any standard web browser. The system can be conveniently controlled and read from any station via the special long-distance network!
The app offers full control over the device, over all functions as well as over the saved data and stopped times. All times must be marked with the names of the athletes before the start, during the run or afterwards.
The stopped times with the names of the athletes are clearly displayed and, if desired, conveniently exported and sent immediately. At the same time, the results can be displayed via a live data connection in Microsoft Excel, sorted as desired and evaluated. Time measurement is child’s play!
The Alpenhunde Timing System can be expanded with up to 6 split times. The split times can also be used as target times in the parallel competition. Thanks to the secure remote network, no times are lost even if the light barriers are triggered at the same time!
