“As little as forty years ago, there were 60% more ski areas than there are today. They faced many challenges – bad winters with little snowfall, rising insurance costs, expensive infrastructural upgrades like snowmaking and grooming equipment. Many didn’t make it. Even today the ski industry keeps moving in this direction. What could we learn from the past that could improve the health of the sport tomorrow?”

Interesting video celebrating the lost ski hills that used to exist all over the Wisconsin countryside. Many only had surface lifts and had a barebones approach to the sport. Mick Shoup started a Facebook Group dedicated to these lost ski areas and hopes remembering them will give us a greater appreciation of the ones open today.
