With the promise of natural snow falling Thursday combined with snowmaking operations in full swing, Loveland Ski Area is chomping at the bit to be the first resort to open in Colorado. Loveland spokesman Dustin Schaefer says they are ready to open later this month:

“There is a lot to do. It’s not just snowmaking, it’s all the park departments coming together working together to get this mountain open. You see the white stuff, you know ski season is right around the corner. We have our snowmaking team working hard. They’ve gotten some strong nights making snow the past three or four days. They’ve been averaging 12 hours a day making snow.”

Last season Loveland opened Oct. 20  (earliest opening since 1951 Sept. 30 opening day).  Lets see what Mother Nature has to contribute on Thursday and keep our fingers crossed for an early opening.
