A mother and daughter got quite a surprise while filming some roadside elk in Evergreen on Wednesday. CBS4 reports Hannah Beese, 14, was shooting a video as her mother, Denise Beese, slowly rolled by a large elk harem grazing near the road. As she was filming she caught the bull’s attention and that’s all it took for him to make a b-line charge. It took about two seconds for the bull to close the distance, lower its head and smash the passenger side of the Subaru. It went on to gouge holes in the bumper. Thankfully no animals or humans were injured. Just another reminder that elk are currently on a hair trigger and you need to give them extra space until the rut is over. Be safe, be respectful, give them elk a wide berth.
