What is being called a “historic winter storm” is heading for the Northern Rockies this weekend.  The storm should drop enough snow to see the first ski turns of the 2019/20 season. The storm will be getting underway later today with “record cold temperatures” and “widespread valley snow”.

Glacier National Park is set to see the biggest tottles out of the storm with as much as 49″of snow by Sunday morning. Further south, Big Sky Resort could see 8″ of new snow and Jackson Hole could seeing 8-12″.

WHAT…Heavy snow is possible. Total mountain snow accumulations
of 1 to 4 feet possible. Total valley snow accumulations of 3
to 9 inches possible. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph.

WHERE…Bad Rock Canyon, Essex, Highway 83 Bigfork to Swan
Lake, Marias Pass, and Polebridge.

WHEN…From Friday evening through Sunday afternoon.

IMPACTS…Travel could be very difficult to impossible.
