Bretton Woods in Northern New Hampshire is nearing completion of a new, eight-person, Gondola. This large resort has 102 trails over three peaks with a 1600′ vertical drop. The newly constructed gondola will be the 10th lift at the resort.

The ski resort is located just west of Mount Washington and draws a high-end clientele given its proximity to the epic Mount Washington Hotel. Given its location and climate, Bretton Woods is typically one of the first resorts to open in the Granite State.

The new gondola will ascend 1300′ moving just over 13 mph and take about five minutes to reach the top of Mount Rosebrook, the center of the mountains three peaks. As of early October, several of the lift towers have been installed and the mountain expects the gondola to be operational by opening day.

The new lift is being built by the Austrian-Swiss Doppelmayr Garaventa Group. It will be the fifth in New England to feature eight passenger cabins. With the new gondola, Bretton Woods will have a total of 10 lifts, including four quad chairlifts, a triple chair, a T-bar, Wonder Carpet, Magic Carpet and the Learning Center Quad – Conway Daily Sun

The gondola is only part of the improvement projects at the resort. Bretton Woods also plans to open a new slopeside restaurant for the 2019-2010 season. In addition, the mountain plans to expand the hotel at the resort by adding 68 more rooms.

Big things are happening at Bretton Woods, a mountain that is not known for particularly rowdy skiing but is dominated by incredible views and a quiet and peaceful feel.
