Big mountain freeride competitions have come a long way since the days of skinny ski sends in Crested Butte circa 1998 but the consequences of sketchy lines remain the same.  Thankfully Darren was on the forefront of ski safety back in the day and was wearing a helmet durning this nasty headfirst crash that left him unconscious tumbling down one of the steepest slopes in North America.
