A female mountain biker was shot by a hunter on Tuesday afternoon during what was supposed to be a relaxing ride near Elm Brook Park just 13 miles west of Concord. Hunting is legal in the area where the shooting occurred.

According to WMUR News, local police along with Fish and Game officials are continuing to investigate the incident but so far it’s unclear whether the hunter will face any charges. “You have to positively identify your target before you pull the trigger,” said Lt. Scott LaCrosse. It was dusk at the time of the shooting and visibility was limited.

The mountain biker’s gunshot wound proved not fatal as she was later transported to a nearby hospital in Concord. She is expected to make a full recovery. No charges have been levied on the hunter as of yet.
