Never a bad time to make sure your avalanche beacon is in proper working order, so why not break it out this evening and ensure the most important part of your safety kit is functioning.
CHECKLIST:
-Check the battery well for signs of corrosion
-Start the season with a fresh set of batteries
-Inspect the exterior of the beacon looking for signs of deterioration
-Lastly check the signal with a buddy (not a bad reason to have a beer and start laying out plans for winter excursions)
