India’s most expansive ski area, Gulmarg is reeling from a recent wind storm that uprooted a pine tree and ultimately caused a lift cable to snap, killing a total of 7 tourists reports the Mumbai Mirror.

Initial reports are indicating that 150 additional tourists had to be rescued from the damaged gondola and 4 have since been reported injured in the accident. Those killed included a guide and one family with two kids after their gondola car plummeted 100′ to the ground.

Everybody but one of the victims has since been identified

Constructed by Pomalgalski as the second highest operating cable car in the world, the gondola has never seen an incident of this significance since it opened in 1998.

*Our deepest condolences go out to all the victims’ friends and family members.
