La Niña is still favored to affect this United States starting this fall and if all things go according to plan, much of the west and parts of the east could see a beneficial change in weather patterns compared to this past ski season.

Of those areas, the east is on tap to see above average snowfall this season, which should also be accompanied by colder than normal temperatures. After last season, that’s great news for the #SkiTheEast faithful.

The bad news?

California’s drought will likely get worse this winter as the jet stream pulls moisture to the north. That movement will ultimately leave the Southwest and parts of California high and dry this winter.
