Termed the Smart Avalanche Rover (SAR), a group of engineers from Colorado State University are making the ski patrol environment much safer by providing a remote controlled vehicle that measures snowpack, slope angle, and weather conditions. With the SAR on hand, accurate and timely data points can be gathered by ski patrollers and other backcountry enthusiasts– All without a single ski cut.
