“Skiing is born in you and it will always be in you.”

Scottish ski pioneer and Britain’s oldest skier, Hilda Jamieson, is retiring from the sport she has loved for the past 80 years at the ripe old age of 102. She is legally blind but kept skiing with the help of her daughters who acted as “Ski Beacons” as she made her way down the slopes according to this report.

Hilda had an inspiring 8 decade career in the sport and built the Glenshee Ski Centre in Aberdeenshire with her husband that now boasts 27 lifts and 36 runs. One of her daughters competed in the 1968 Winter Olympics for Britain and she has more than a half dozen grandchildren and great grandchildren who have won national championships or represented Scotland.

Congratulations to Hilda. You are an inspiration to us all and we appreciate all you have done for the sport!32CC044B00000578-0-image-a-3_1459700978484
