The Chutes at Mount Rose are sick

The $23.5 million plan to improve Mount Rose ski resort on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe has been approved by the Washoe County Board of Adjustment.

The improvements will take place over the next 10 years.

Mount Rose is a great ski area and Unofficial looks forward to the improvements.  Rose is where you go for early season storms, late season storms, any warm storm as it almost never rains up there.  ‘Cuz it’s Lake Tahoe’s highest base area ski resort at 8,260 feet.

THE NEXT STEP FOR MT. ROSE EXPANSION:

– An environmental analysis is the next step in this project.  That analysis will be submitted to the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest officials, who have already accepted the Atoma expansion plan for review.

– Mt. Rose hopes to break ground on this expansion plan next year.

– “The Washoe Board of Adjustment stipulated that a major component of the plan be completed every five years to keep the approval active.” – firsttracksonline.com

MOUNT ROSE IMPROVEMENT PLAN:

1.  Expansion of terrain adding a 99-acre zone called Atoma

1b.  Atoma will be primarily beginner terrain

1c.  Atoma will connect to the rest of the ski resort by a new 3,500 foot ski lift and ski bridge over the Mt Rose Hwy

2.  Galena and Ponderosa lifts removed and replaced by a single, 5,000 foot long high speed quad

3.  Lakeview Chair will be extended

4.  New mountaintop restaurant

5.  Expanded  trails

6.  Expanded snowmaking capabilities
