Quite possibly, it may be the worst conditions Jackson Hole has ever seen almost midway through January.  That doesn’t mean there are no good turns to be had on the hill.  The warm cycle that recently came though town has made almost everything with a southern aspect heat up and freeze. Making for some painful riding, including the bowl. That is a struggle to get down if the temps are below freezing.   But, everything that didn’t get baked by the sun has stayed chalky and makes for some fun softer riding.

Fired up for the new snow

If you are on the upper mountain looking for the soft snow, it is recommended to use the rock boards still.  The snow is defiantly low tide and there are plenty of rocks to rip out edges.  Breaking out the GS skis could be super fun to hit the groomer. They have been pretty smooth lately and the crowds have fallen off significantly since the holidays.

Even with conditions being not the best, some sick lines were being thrown down.  Who the hell hit Bamboo Couloir today?  That was sick!!

Still some good turns to be had on the hill and there is quite a while left in the season for more powder skiing.  Late in the afternoon today, a mini snow storm moved in and the riding was getting much better in that last hour of operation.  Hopefully it will keep up all night.
