Holy Sheep Nuggets!!! There is actually stuff to do in Tahoe this weekend! Thanks God, huh!? This weekend’s madness necessitates a well thought out plan and strategic drinking schematic to be executed correctly:
First, you get hammered on Friday night and go see The Mother Hips at CBC. Don’t worry, you can sleep in on Saturday morning as there ain’t no new powder none. Cruise over to Alpine and watch the Schlintelltag havoc at noon on Saturday. Show up to Julia Macuso’s pool party at Squaw at 2pm. C’mon, you know you wanna see how hot she is in real life and you can fight your hangover with $5 Malibu cocktails (which are weak, Malibu is only 40 proof). Then ski drunk with Julia down to see Donavan Frankenreiter on the KT deck and really start partying and telling stories to everyone you meet about how you surf AND ski. Luckily that ends at 5:15 and there is nothing to do Saturday night. Plenty of time to sober up for Sunday’s morning’s Billy Dutton Uphill. At 8am on Sunday, run up the Mt. Run. This will be your only drinking pause, or not. Then show up at 3pm for the Beer Gardener’s show at Chamois. Now you can really start drinking heavily because all you have to do that night is drive back to the Bay. You’re Golden!
Likely the coolest thing in Tahoe this weekend is that the best park skiers and riders in the world will be at Squaw on the Mainline Park Red Bull just created. All Red Bulls park athletes are here for this. This will be the best of the best doing the latest tricks off ridiculously huge jumps. Cool.
Friday April 8 – The Mother Hips at Crystal Bay Club. 9pm. $18. This is the best band we’ve had in Tahoe in a long time. Rock n’ Roll. Check out their music: www.themotherhips.com
Saturday, April 9 – Julia Mancuso Pool Party. High Camp Pool. 1-4pm. Come meet Julia, get a poster signed, dance to DJ Tracy Too Dread, drink too many $5 Malibus, then ski from High Camp to KT Sun Deck drunk with Julia and rock out to Donavan.
Saturday, April 9 – Donavan Frankenreiter. 4-5:15pm on the KT Sun Deck. Free. This is actually very cool. Donavan is a big time pro surfer turned musician and he can play. I’ve been watching this guy in surf flicks since I was 14. Mellow surf turns. Check out the video below for on of Donavan’s radio songs.
Saturday , April 9 – Red Bull Schlittentag at Alpine Meadows. 12pm. People will be making their own sleds and jumping them at Alpine on Saturday. I GUARANTEE you this will be entertaining. Check out the video from last year’s event. More info: www.skialpine.com
Sunday, April 10 – Billy Dutton Uphill. $20 entry fee. Begins at 8am at the Funitel. This is a Chinese Uphill. You can climb on whatever you bring, it don’t matter none. This race goes up 2000’ from the bottom of KT-22 to High Camp.http://www.squaw.com/billy-dutton-uphill
Sunday, April 10 – Beer Gardener’s 20th Anniversary Party at Chamois, Squaw Valley. 3pm. Free. After the Billy Dutton Uphill cruise to the Chammy deck and rock out to the Beer Gardeners.
