The cool thing to do this week is leave. ย With the resort shutting down and quite a few businesses closing for off season, many people are taking this opportunity to get out of the hole. ย But if you are not fortunate enough to be on a surf, bike, climbing, or ski trip, there are still a couple things happening to keep yourself busy.
Fri-Saturday, April 8-9- The Laff Staff, Center for the Arts. This local group of actors are giving Jackson two nights of entertainment while showing off their impov skills in the Black Box Theater. ย The theater can only seat just over 100 people, so get there early. ย Last month there were about 50 people that did not make the cut. ย The doors open at 7:30pm and the show starts at 8pm. ย The evening of laughter will only cost you 5 dollars.
Friday, April 8- Screen Door Porch, Silver Dollar Bar. ย The local band that is normally on the road this time of year will stick around this weekend. ย The show stars around 7:30 and there is no cover. ย Why not go out for a few drinks and listen to some live music? ย And with the money you saved on cover, why not treat yourself to one of those tasty Bartenders Margs.
Saturday, April 9- Cardboard Box Derby, Grand Targhee Resort. This is the 11th annual race held on the Sweetwater run. ย If you want to compete, the registration starts at 9:30. ย But if you are just there to party, the boxes start sliding around noon. ย There are just a few rules for the event. ย Any weight, size or shape is just fine. ย The materials that can be used are cardboard, poster board, beer cases ย glue, tape, and string. ย Word has it, no weapons on the costumes as well. ย For those of you missing lift service, might as well make a full day of it. ย Targhee’s lifts are still spinnin.
