The cool thing to do this week is leave.  With the resort shutting down and quite a few businesses closing for off season, many people are taking this opportunity to get out of the hole.  But if you are not fortunate enough to be on a surf, bike, climbing, or ski trip, there are still a couple things happening to keep yourself busy.

Fri-Saturday, April 8-9- The Laff Staff, Center for the Arts. This local group of actors are giving Jackson two nights of entertainment while showing off their impov skills in the Black Box Theater.  The theater can only seat just over 100 people, so get there early.  Last month there were about 50 people that did not make the cut.  The doors open at 7:30pm and the show starts at 8pm.   The evening of laughter will only cost you 5 dollars.

Friday, April 8- Screen Door Porch, Silver Dollar Bar.  The local band that is normally on the road this time of year will stick around this weekend.  The show stars around 7:30 and there is no cover.  Why not go out for a few drinks and listen to some live music?  And with the money you saved on cover, why not treat yourself to one of those tasty Bartenders Margs.

Saturday, April 9- Cardboard Box Derby, Grand Targhee Resort. This is the 11th annual race held on the Sweetwater run.   If you want to compete, the registration starts at 9:30.  But if you are just there to party, the boxes start sliding around noon.  There are just a few rules for the event.  Any weight, size or shape is just fine.  The materials that can be used are cardboard, poster board, beer cases  glue, tape, and string.  Word has it, no weapons on the costumes as well.  For those of you missing lift service, might as well make a full day of it.  Targhee’s lifts are still spinnin.
