Tannersville, Pennsylvania — Camelback Resort had a poor reputation. Issues like crowding, paid parking, and poor snow quality left guests disgruntled. Owned since 2019 by KSL Resorts, the resort drew mixed reviews despite recent additions like the state’s high-speed bubble chairlift. However, that reputation changed this past ski season.
In late 2025, it was announced that Jason Bays, not to be confused with the former MLB player that Mets fans don’t like, has been hired as the ski resort’s Vice President and General Manager. Bays has a background in hospitality and ski resorts, having previously worked as General Manager at a couple of Great Wolf Lodges and the COO of Mountain Creek Resort. That background fits well with Camelback, which is home to both an indoor and outdoor waterpark, along with a mountain for skiing.
“My first jobs as a teenager were at Camelback as both a lifeguard and ski instructor, and I participated in its after-school ski program when I was a kid,” said Bays in the press release. “I was born and raised in the Poconos, and I look forward to moving back with my wife to raise our own family…!”
The first season under his management was a major success. They opened on December 3rd and closed on May 5th, securing the longest season in Pennsylvania. It was also likely the first time ever a Pennsylvania ski resort had top-to-bottom skiing in May. Add in transparent updates on social media, the elimination of paid parking, and better snow coverage. Locals loved it. Despite those successes, Camelback is aiming to make next season even better.
Their latest update came last week, when they revealed three new trails for next season. Jason Bays detailed the locations in a post last week. Trail 1 will be a black diamond trail with the natural features remaining in place. Trail 2 will be an intermediate windy trail through the woods, with a hot chocolate bar. Trail 3 will be a double-black-diamond piste. The steep, narrow run will make for great skiing on powder days. They’re asking for new trail names from the general public. Is Lake America taken?
Slightly Less Exciting Offseason Projects
Other upgrades referenced include $500,000 in snowmaking upgrades. This consists of over two miles of new snowmaking pipes and 75 new snow guns. Another new addition, Alpine Outpost, will allow spectators to watch their friends/family learn how to ski. Repainting lifts was also a focus. Camelback is also auctioning off old lift chairs, which are available here.
Camelback Resort has some fall activities planned, with a ski season opening date yet to be determined. However, they aim to open for skiing as soon as possible.
