Whistler, British Columbia — For a ski town as big as Whistler, it may be surprising that it’s only home to (technically) one five-star hotel. While some publications give the Fairmont Chateau Whistler a five-star ranking, it’s technically not officially one. That honor belongs to the Four Seasons Whistler, which debuted in 2004. 22 years later, does it still hold up?
The Four Seasons Whistler is located in the Upper Village, just a short walk from the Blackcomb Gondola and the Magic Chair. Not to be confused with the Philadelphia landscaping shop, the hotel features 273 rooms (178 guest rooms and 95 suites) plus 37 private residences located in a separate building. Amenities include a large outdoor pool and hot tub, spa, fitness center, multiple dining outlets, and convention spaces.
Bright Sun Travels is a YouTube page by documentarian Jake Williams dedicated to reviewing mostly high-end travel destinations. I added the “mostly” there because he willingly chose to stay at Circus Circus in Vegas one time. Don’t think you could pay me to do that. This time around, he checks out Four Seasons Whistler. During the offseason visit, he dives into the room, amenities, and exclusive packages available for guests.
Jake’s Rating & Value For Skiers
Jake’s “Is it any good score” uses various metrics to score the resort out of 50. He gave it 41 out of 50, dinging it slightly on service and value. Despite the cost, it’s decent value for what you get, especially compared with typical prices at these hotel brands.
It’s one of Whistler’s most convenient options for skiers; it’s a short walk to Blackcomb’s base area lifts. An additional ski valet service near the lifts reduces the hassle of carrying your gear. Also noteworthy is a package offered by Four Seasons to ski with an Olympian, which offers a lesson from a skier who’s definitely better than you.
