Colorado skiers and snowboarders now have another major date to circle on the calendar. Aspen Snowmass has announced its opening and closing dates for the 2026/27 winter season, with the first lifts scheduled to begin turning just one day before Thanksgiving.
Aspen Mountain and Snowmass are both scheduled to open on November 26th, 2026, kicking off the new ski season at two of Aspen Snowmass’s four mountains. Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk are scheduled to open on December 12th.
The announcement comes as ski resorts across Colorado prepare for the return of winter, with Aspen Snowmass also rolling out new lesson packages, advance booking discounts and an expanded season pass lineup.
Aspen Snowmass Closing Dates Stretch Into April
The 2026/27 season is scheduled to run well into spring, although closing dates will vary between the four mountains.
Buttermilk is scheduled to close on April 4th, 2027. Aspen Highlands and Snowmass are scheduled to operate through April 11th, while Aspen Mountain is scheduled to remain open until April 18th, conditions permitting. That gives Aspen Mountain the latest scheduled closing date of the four resorts.
New Packages Offer Savings for Skiers
Aspen Snowmass is also introducing new ways for visitors to save on skiing and snowboarding this winter. The new 3-Day First Time Lesson package includes a lift ticket, lessons and rental equipment. Guests who complete the program will then qualify for complimentary ski access and rental equipment for the remainder of the season.
The resort is also expanding its Lesson and Lift Ticket Bundle to adults and seniors. Group lesson participants can purchase discounted lift tickets for $174 for adults and $86 for seniors age 65 and older.
Advance planning can provide additional savings. Lift tickets booked 30 days ahead can be discounted by up to 25%, while bookings made seven days in advance can save up to 20%.
Aspen Snowmass Pass Prices Increase Soon
Skiers and snowboarders considering a season pass have until September 18th to purchase at current prices. Pass prices increase September 19th. The 2026/27 lineup includes the Premier Pass, new Flex Pass, Weekday Pass and Alpine 2-Day Pass, providing access across more than 5,700 acres of terrain.
The Flex Pass offers four to seven days with no blackout dates and can be purchased through October 30th.
