Red Bull Rampage is returning to the terrain where the legendary freeride mountain biking competition began. The 2026 edition will mark the event’s 25th anniversary with a return to its original competition zone in Southern Utah, bringing the world’s top freeride mountain bikers back to the site that helped define the sport.
Red Bull Rampage Returns to Its Original Site
The 2026 competition will take place in October, with the women’s competition scheduled for Thursday, October 8th, followed by the men’s competition on Saturday, October 10th.
The event will feature 12 of the world’s top female freeriders and 18 of the leading male athletes. Both fields will tackle the same Southern Utah landscape used during the first four editions of Rampage from 2001 through 2004.
Massive Terrain Will Challenge Rampage Athletes
The competition zone covers approximately 364,000 square meters, equivalent to roughly 51 standard soccer fields across the men’s and women’s venues. The 2026 course will also feature Red Bull Rampage’s longest vertical drop yet at more than 206 meters. A new start gate will be positioned approximately one-third higher than the start gates used during the original competitions.
Belgian slopestyle legend Thomas Genon said the familiar landscape will look different through the perspective of today’s freeride athletes.

A Return to Rampage History
The original site holds an important place in Red Bull Rampage history. Wade Simmons won the inaugural competition in 2001 with a score of 78.4, while Cam Zink made his debut at the venue in 2003 before eventually winning the event twice.
Since launching in 2001, the competition has produced 19 editions and 11 different winners. The 2026 return to Southern Utah will give another generation of riders an opportunity to add their names to the event’s history.
