Heads up if you are in Utah and looking for something fun and free to do over the Labor Day Weekend as Solitude Ski Resort is hosting a traditional Scottish heavy athletics Event.

Utah’s top 10 male and female Highland Games athletes will battle it out in a winner-take-all competition held over two days in nine classic events including stones, weights, hammers, sheaf, weight over bar, and caber toss.

The athletes will be competing for the Utah Highland Games State Championships will be wearing traditional Scottish kilts and if you decided to wear a kilt in support you can look forward to lots of nods of approval and a $5 food discount to Little Dollie’s. Spectators can try their hand at lifting heavy stones that will be set up for the public on Sunday under the supervision of professionals.
