Winter is still months away, but skiers and snowboarders across the Northern Hemisphere are already starting to dream of pillowy powder lines and beautiful days on the mountain. We asked our readers on Facebook where they dream of skiing during the 2026-2027 season, and the responses show just how wide-ranging those ambitions can be.
The post received over 100 responses, with skiers naming destinations across North America, Europe, Asia, and beyond. Some people already have specific trips booked or targeted while others just want to find some snow.
Alta and the West Remain Popular
Alta stood out as one of the most common responses, with multiple readers naming the Utah ski area and one saying they had already booked their trip there. Alta was also listed alongside Brighton, Solitude, and Snowbird, the other powdery mountains of Utah’s Cottonwood Canyons.
Other western destinations drew plenty of attention, including Mammoth, Palisades Tahoe, Big Sky, Vail, and Revelstoke. One skier said they plan to follow the snow across multiple western states rather than committing to a single destination. Plenty of people said they just dream of returning to their local hills and are hoping for a good season there.
International Ski Trips Are Part of the Dream
Plenty of dream destinations reached beyond the United States. Commenters mentioned Japan, Austria, France, Italy, Pakistan, and British Columbia. One skier mentioned a planned trip to Chile that they’re lucky enough to be going on in just 12 days, while others are dreaming of heli-skiing in the British Columbian mountains.
Some people note that the destination is much less important than the conditions, with several readers claiming their ideal trip is simply wherever the snow is deep. Some dream of chest-deep steeps while one talked of unlimited powder fields.

The Real Dream Is a Deep Winter
While plenty of people mentioned specific donations, the biggest takeaway from the responses is something we all know. The perfect ski destination is often wherever the snow is the deepest. Whether that means Alta, Mammoth, Japan, the Dolomites, or a small local mountain. Skiers and snowboarders want cold temperatures, abundant snowfall, and as much time as possible on snow. The 2026-2027 ski season simply can’t arrive soon enough.
