While we’re stuck sweating through the last few weeks of summer, many skiers and snowboarders have made their way far south to enjoy the remarkable snow of South America and Chile. Professional skier and Jackson Hole local Owen Leeper is one of those lucky individuals taking advantage of the massive storms that have been hitting the Valle Nevado ski area. In true Owen Leeper fashion, he made sure to throw a rather enormous backflip when the snow was right for it.

Valle Nevado saw some serious snowfall this month, with over 5 feet of snow landing in a 7-day period. 163 centimeters, or around 64.2 inches, fell within the last week. The entire 2025 season at Valle Nevado has seen 161.8 inches of snow, or 411cm. The last 48 hours haven’t seen any new snowfall, but there is some serious potential for new snow over the next hand full of days. With the new snowfall on the ground, all 13 lifts are open. Nearly every trail is open as well, excluding the 2 freestyle trails. More information on current conditions at the Chilean resort are available here.
