TETON COUNTY, Wyoming – Earlier this summer, Teton Pass in Wyoming experienced a catastrophic failure, leading to a devastating closure for many commuters in the area. The route was able to reopen just three weeks after the closure thanks to a temporary detour. Professional engineer Casey Jones shared his criticism throughout the whole process, and he’s got some more things to say about the work going on there.

In this video, I provide a new update on the status of efforts to restore the highway embankment of the Teton Pass Highway (Wyoming Highway 22) to its pre-failure configuration. I also present key findings from Wyoming DOT’s Baseline Geotechnical Report that the issued August 23, 2024 for the Big Fill Slide and subsequent investigation. I also show you some awesome footage of current slope reconstruction active that I obtained from drone footage from a flight that I commissioned for this video.

WYDOT Teton County‘s last update on the Teton Pass project came in mid-August. The temporary detour on WYO 22 at milepost 12 was chipsealed on August 21 in an effor to prepare the pass for the upcoming winter.
