The first major winter storm of the 18/19 season is impacting the alps and resorts from Switzerland to France are reporting big snowfall totals.

WePowder.com is reporting that totals range from 100-200cm (40-78″) with the highest totals falling near Italy’s Stelvio Pass. Stelvio Pass is a spring/summer ski area and access isnow closed for the season.

“In particular, the ski areas south of the main alpine ridge got huge amounts of snow above 2200 meters. The ski areas in the main alpine ridge also got their share.” – wePowder.com

In France, the snow was more or less evenly distributed north-2-south but from first glance, we’d guess Tignes and Les Trois Vallees saw the biggest totals. Central Switzerland (*Saas Fee, Zermatt) also saw large snow totals.
