A group of security professionals discovered a potentially dangerous vulnerability within a gondola operational system in Austria that could be targeted by hackers.

According to Hack Read, nefarious persons could remotely control the drive function of a Doppelmayr engineered gondola system at Patscherkofel ski area. Hypothetically speaking, the hack could allow such persons to start, stop, or reverse the gondola cars as they so please.

The potentially deadly vulnerability was discovered by two security professionals who were able to manipulate those exact functions. The weakness is already fixed by Doppelmayr but we suspect they along with other industry leaders will begin to take such hacks very, very seriously.
