Kicking Horse Mountain Resort’s head avalanche forecaster qualified yesterday as a “Nuclear Storm”.

“I would call this an epic storm.  In just under 24hrs we have received 56cm of snow.  For multiple hours it was snowing 2cm/hr, there were two hours when we got 5cm/hr, one hour that we got 8cm and one hour that we received 10.6cm!” Said Mike Rubenstein, Director of Operations.

The latest round of snow has brought Kicking Horse’s season snowfall total up to 268cm (105 inches).

First hand reports from the hill claim the snow is not only deep, but very, very light. Amazing conditions from Pioneer top all the way to the bottom.
