Huntsville, Ontario — A member-run ski area in Ontario is planning major changes for the summer of 2027.
Bayshore Broadcaster News Centre reports that Hidden Valley Ski Area is planning a lift replacement for next offseason. A new fixed-grip quad chairlift from Leitner-Poma will replace the Iroquois Quad Chair (also known as the Red Chair).
The new chairlift will have 48 carriers, increasing capacity. It will also have a shorter ride time, with it running 2 meters per second compared to the current 1.5 meters per second. This means a shorter ride time and less waiting in line. Preliminary work has begun on the project, with the core of the construction set to take place next offseason.
Other upgrades are also planned for next offseason. 2027 upgrades also include a snowmaking modernization program and terrain park improvements. Details on these two aforementioned projects were frankly vague, so we’ll have to wait to see what they do.
“Hidden Valley Ski Area has been part of the Muskoka community for generations, and we want to make sure it continues to be here and continues to evolve for generations to come,” said Chris Beckett, the General Manager of Hidden Valley. “These projects are about investing in the fundamentals of the Ski Area while also improving the experience for the people who come here to ski, ride, learn and spend time with family and friends.”
