Purgatory Resort is heading into the 2026-27 ski season with a major terrain expansion, expanded snowmaking, new air service and unusually low lift ticket prices on much of its operating calendar.
Purgatory Lift Tickets Start At $9
Lift tickets at Purgatory Resort are currently priced below $50 on 95 scheduled operating days this season, representing about 70 percent of the resort’s planned operating calendar. Select dates will see lift tickets priced as low as $9. Purgatory uses demand-based pricing, meaning guests who purchase tickets earlier can access the lowest available prices. Eligible advance-purchase tickets also include $10 in Purgatory Cash.
Children 12 and younger can ski and snowboard for free throughout the season with the Power Kids Pass, which has no blackout dates.
Purgatory is scheduled to open for the season on November 20, weather permitting.
Colorado Couloir Adds 40 Acres
The biggest on-mountain change this winter will be the debut of the Colorado Couloir lift. The new lift will open approximately 40 acres of advanced and expert terrain, including five new trails and gladed tree skiing in one of Purgatory’s steepest areas. Two connector trails will link the new terrain with the rest of the mountain.
The lift will also change access from the Gelande parking area. Skiers and snowboarders will be able to ride directly to the upper mountain and reach the backside terrain without relying on the shuttle that was previously required.
Purgatory is also adding 13 acres of snowmaking coverage to Divinity Trail. The expanded system will run from the top of Twilight Chair to its midway loading station. The project is designed to help connect beginner terrain with the base area earlier in the season while providing more consistent conditions throughout the winter.
New Houston Flights Begin In December
Travel from Texas to Purgatory will also become easier this winter. United Airlines will launch nonstop service between Houston and Durango-La Plata County Airport on December 19th. The 70-seat Embraer E-175 service will operate Wednesdays and Saturdays through March 27, 2027. Durango’s airport is approximately 50 minutes from Purgatory. The new route adds to existing nonstop service from Denver, Dallas-Fort Worth and Phoenix.
