Nearly everyone in skiing and snowboarding has heard of the legendary Corbet’s Couloir. Easily the most iconic run at Wyoming’s Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Corbet’s features a 20-foot drop and 50-degree pitch. The route brings together some of the world’s best skiers and snowboarders for the incredible Kings & Queens of Corbet’s competition every winter. Plus a new webcam focused on the couloir has allowed the entire world to watch recreational riders put their skills to the test from the comfort of their own home. Corbet’s has generated a lot of well-earned winter buzz lately, but now it’s breaking into summer recreation.

Three new Via Ferrata routes give visitors the opportunity to take on the Corbet’s challenge in the hotter months. The Tectonic Traverse approach, Exposure Therapy, and Commitment Issues are all more demanding than Jackson Hole’s existing Casper Buttress Routes, and they feature two extraordinary suspension bridges (the Iron Journey and Epiphany bridges). The routes explore the area surrounding Corbet’s Couloir, taking climbers from Tensleep Bowl to the summit of Rendezvous Mountain.

The Corbet’s Via Ferrata is accessed through a ride up the resort’s Aerial Tram. From there, climbers hike and scramble down into Corbet’s Couloir. This is a full-day experience only, with guides taking you on some of the classic Casper Via Ferrata routes in the morning before heading up the Tram. The strenuous climb is only available for guests aged 12 and older who weigh over 88 pounds. The new routes open on July 18th this summer.

Of course if you’re newer to Via Ferratas and aren’t too comfortable with the Corbet’s Couloir climbs, there are routes for all ability levels across the mountain. Jackson Hole currently holds the largest and most comprehensive Via Ferrata network in North America, with 20 total routes covering the resort. Plus, Via Ferrata experiences include Evening Gondola tickets so you can hang out on The Deck and enjoy some drinks and food at 9,095 feet. More information on Jackson Hole’s Via Ferrata experiences are available here.

The Via Ferrata network is just one of many summer activities possible in the 55-mile-long Jackson Hole mountain valley, with additional adventures including mountain biking, paragliding, ropes courses, fly fishing, and just about any other summer activity you could want. Grand Teton National Park is literally just up the road from Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, and Yellowstone National Park is an easy day trip. The Via Ferrata routes offer stunning views of the surrounding mountains and national park, but summer adventure possibilities are near endless from Teton Village.

Nonstop flights into Jackson Hole are available from 13 major U.S. cities during the summer, including Denver, Seattle, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta, New York, and more.
