A group of kayakers paddling near Buntzen Bay northeast of Vancouver, Canada, had quite an incredible wildlife experience. As they were moving along, a pod of orcas cruise right by them, lightly breaching the water and showing off.

The incredible footage was captured by Deep Cove Kayak Centre tour guide
Rhiannon, who caught it as her overnight group was paddling back from the Granite Falls area. It occurred around April 30th or May 1st, early in the morning.

Both Northern resident and Southern resident orcas live in the waters around Vancouver, though Northern Resident are much more common. More than 200 individuals live among 34 pods. On the other hand, Southern resident orcas, or Salish Sea Orcas, are one of Canada’s most endangered marine mammals, with only around 73 remaining. It’s not clear exactly what orcas were spotted in this video.
