Glacier National Park is rolling out major changes for the 2026 summer season, eliminating its vehicle reservation system while introducing tighter restrictions at one of its busiest destinations.

Park officials confirmed that timed-entry vehicle reservations, used in recent years to manage congestion, will not be required anywhere in the park this year. In their place, Glacier is implementing a reservation-only shuttle system along the Going-to-the-Sun Road to access Logan Pass during peak season. Visitors looking for guaranteed access will need to secure shuttle tickets through Recreation.gov.

Tickets will be released in two phases. A portion will become available 60 days in advance starting May 2 at 8 a.m. MDT on a rolling basis. The remaining tickets will be released daily at 7 p.m. MDT beginning June 30 for next-day reservations.

At Logan Pass, one of the most visited areas in the park, new parking restrictions will also take effect. Beginning July 1, parking will be limited to three hours, weather permitting, in an effort to increase turnover and improve access.

The park is also relocating departure points for guided experiences. Sun Tours and the historic Red Bus tours will now depart from the Quarter Circle Parking Lot rather than the Apgar Visitor Center.

The changes were first announced in February as part of Glacier’s broader effort to manage visitor demand while maintaining access during the busy summer season.
