Jay, Vermont — The season should be winding down at Jay Peak, but that’s clearly not the ski resort’s intention. After a warm stretch, it was getting bare on various trails. However, 4-6 inches of fresh powder over the past 24 hours has replenished the mountain. In addition, the snowguns are back on.

During the past day, Jay Peak Resort has turned on approximately 30 snow guns at various spots across the mountain. This is the latest ever snowmaking push that Jay has ever done. The plan is to keep them blowing until tomorrow morning. For now, they’re only keeping open terrain and lifts in the Jet and Stateside terrain pods in an attempt to get at least one more weekend out of the rest of the mountain.

Then there’s the caveat to their operating plans. While Jay Peak will have lift-served on Jet until the snow melts, they have prepared a snow pile for their 3rd Annual Solstice Sessions on June 20th. This tarped-off snow will eventually be home to various terrain park features.

For now, we don’t know how long Jay Peak will spin the lifts for. The Vermont ski resort states on its website that it aims to remain open until at least May 9th, with additional operations possible thereafter. Typically, Jay’s last trails open each season are serviced by the Jet Triple.
