Falardeau, Quebec โ€” So far this winter, if you’ve wanted to find a snowy ski resort in North America, you’ve had to be creative. Jay Peak and the Banff ski resorts are options, but if you want to think more outside the box, you could head to Quebec.

Last week, Le Valinouรซt announced that it had surpassed 500 centimeters of snowfall. Since then, they’ve been able to add to that, with its most recent tally sitting at 526 cms of snowfall. For the non-metric-knowledgable, that’s 203 inches of snowfall. That’s above many ski resorts out west right now.

Unlike many other Quebec ski resorts, Le Valinouรซt relies solely on natural snowfall. Usually, the ski resort averages 600 cms of snow, so they’re in a solid position for the second half of the season.

About Le Valinouรซt

Le Valinouรซt features 36 trails across two peaks and 6 lifts, which are capable of carrying 7,600 guests per hour. There are 138 skiable acres and a vertical drop of 1,148 feet. Other activities include snow tubing, fat biking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. There’s also overnight lodging on site.

The challenge for outsiders? It’s not the easiest ski resort to get to. The closest major city to it is Saguenay, which is actually a decently sized city. The ski resort is situated around a two and a half hours drive away from Quebec City, so it would make a great stop on a ski trip around the historic city.

The only negative thing I can say about the mountain is that its mascot is terrifying. I have decided not to include a photo of it for your protection.
